Kate Radi grew up in the foothills of southern California, riding horses, deeply involved in the performing arts, and with, at times, almost a dozen animals. The daughter of a Hungarian father who immigrated from Budapest to New York City as a child, and a mother whose family has lived in southern California for generations, she was fortunate to travel often and widely throughout Europe and parts of Asia while growing up.
After working in non-profits related to women’s health, Kate completed post-baccalaurete studies in photography full-time at UCLA while working with LA based photographers. After working in the field and exhibiting her fine-art photographs for a number of years, her interest in a different kind of storytelling emerged more strongly; leading to completion of her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University’s graduate writing program.
Kate’s fiction focuses on small moments which have immeasurable impact on character’s trajectories, imagining the greater world through the eyes of others, and exploring the lasting impact of memory and sense of place.
She received an author’s fellowship from The Martha’s Vineyard Center for Creative Writing and is at work on her first novel. She still enjoys traveling whenever possible.
